You may not consider something a vacation when you have to buy insurance to go. A friend of mine is planning a trip to Africa and a peculiar insurance policy was brought up. First, if you ever have a child or family member kidnapped in a foreign country, your bank accounts are automatically frozen. Next, the U.S. government may or may not send in help for your rescue, but a new insurance policy will help you minimize these risks. The insurance policy covers ransom payments, or they will send in a trained team of former navy seals to rescue you. If that is something I have to be worried about on a “vacation,” I am choosing a different destination next time.
