Some schools should simply disband and use the money that was going to that school to help students telecommunicate in. We have the technology to hold virtual classrooms in such a way that students can see the teacher and the teacher can see the students. In addition, there is no lag between communication either, so that is no longer a barrier to distance learning. This would not only save rural towns money, but would most likely provide students in rural areas with a better education. The technology has become affordable, no it is simply up to school districts to realize the benefits of distance learning.

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009Web Hosting Lessons
Thursday, January 29th, 2009Online web hosting is a little difficult. Once you have found a person to host your website, you have only started the process. Now you need to learn how to upload files to their server and how to make everything work together. This isn’t something someone can learn in ten minutes. You may have to search around for a bit for a good online resource. Wikipedia can be helpful, but it mostly defines things and doesn’t really give you any action steps. That is a good place to start, but there are plenty of other places that are much better. One great place is Youtube. Usually it is spent killing time at work, but it can be a helpful resource for web hosting and even web design.
Technology Troubles
Thursday, January 29th, 2009I just got a new cell phone. As I’m not amazing with technology, I brought my friend along to help me get the best deal. He’s obsessed with the iPhone. He actually used my upgrade to get his. So he was very adamant about me getting an iPhone as well. However, I have this thing about touch screens. My brother let me play with his, and texting is so hard! I have to have real buttons or I end up pressing two or three different numbers at a time, and my texts end up like “idal ahtel youtl”. I guess I’m “old fashioned” but my perfectionist tendencies transfer to even my texting.
The Internet Need
Thursday, January 15th, 2009Computers are getting to the point where they are almost useless without an Internet connection. Some programs cannot even function without being able to access online resources. This is why the new Verizon/Windows mini computer is such a great idea. It is a small computer, like extremely small, that is only $200 from Verizon Wireless when you sign up for a 3G Internet plan. The small computer is neat, but the 3G plan is great too because it gives you Internet wherever you have cell phone service. Can you imagine being on the beach with wireless Internet? Now you can with Verizon Wireless’s new computer.
