Moderation In Everything

Friday, April 24th, 2009

When thinking about nutrition, most people assume that the more the better when it comes to vitamins. Just like everything else in regards to your body, moderation is always the best policy. You should never have too much fat or sugar, but you do need some. The same concept applies to vitamins and minerals. You need to make sure you are getting enough, but you shouldn’t over do it because you may be harming your body. For instance, many people take loads of vitamin C to prevent colds or get over one. It is definitely important to get plenty of vitamin C, but too much can harden your arteries, leading to heart problems.

Antioxidant Shakes

Getting your daily antioxidants can be a little difficult. It is hard to find fruit or nuts on the go or when you are at work or school. You pretty much need to take them with you. Well, I had no idea how to do that at first, and I really wanted to make sure I was getting plenty of antioxidants. I talked to a friend about this problem, and she told me what she does. Every Sunday night, she puts together six plastic baggies and fills each with an assortment of fruits. She then puts them all in the freezer. Then, every morning she simply takes out a bag, blends it with some milk and puts it in a thermos to keep it cool and refreshing. It only takes about five minutes to do, and it can get you all the antioxidants you need throughout your day.
