We start with the seasonal lemonade stand as an introduction to business. It’s simple, of course, but this little enterprise teaches so many things: the law of supply and demand, economics, importance of a good product, and how to give back change for a dollar. The indulgent attention (and business) of adults allows this to be a fairly safe way to begin learning about entrepreneurship.
Later, to have money for gadgets, toys or dates, we may take a job in high school. It may be a fast food joint, an ice cream shop or local car wash. The learning about business and people continues as we have greater interaction with people from our community.
