Places to Study Abroad

Friday, March 20th, 2009

There are many places I would like to study abroad, and I am sure you have many places as well. One place that I would love to go is Egypt. Egypt’s pyramids and ruins are extremely interesting, and to be able to study them, in addition to learning about the Egyptian’s culture, is the opportunity of a life time. I would also like to study abroad in China. China is growing into a world power, and soon will rival U.S.A. for the world’s largest and most effective economy. It would be extremely beneficial to learn their customs and culture so that I could effectively work with Chinese people in future business relationships

Disbanding Schools

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Some schools should simply disband and use the money that was going to that school to help students telecommunicate in. We have the technology to hold virtual classrooms in such a way that students can see the teacher and the teacher can see the students. In addition, there is no lag between communication either, so that is no longer a barrier to distance learning. This would not only save rural towns money, but would most likely provide students in rural areas with a better education. The technology has become affordable, no it is simply up to school districts to realize the benefits of distance learning.

University or College?

Wednesday, March 18th, 2009

Most people do not understand the difference between a college and a university. Colleges simply offer undergraduate programs or associate degrees, whereas universities offer a wider range of degrees, including doctorates and masters degrees. Colleges usually are not able to participate in research as much either, since they do not have doctorate students constantly doing research and publishing articles. However, sometimes that gives colleges a distinct advantage of universities since they can simply focus on providing a quality education, whereas universities have to constantly be doing research and seeking funds.

Continual Training

Monday, March 16th, 2009

Training for your career is something you do not do in one week. Most people don’t think of college this way, but it is essentially four years of training for some career. Even if you do not end up working in biology, or whatever it is you major in, you still learned how to think and make decisions. You should view anytime you learn something new as an opportunity for training. Your entire life previous to your career is essentially time you will be training for your career. You train mentally and socially by going to school and being an active member of society.

Latin Languages

Monday, February 2nd, 2009

There are many types of languages. Most people know this, but there are Latin languages, like English, Spanish, Italian, French, and then there are many other types of languages such as those in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Asia. Latin languages us the slight variations of the alphabet as we know it, whereas other languages have letters that do not represent anything similar to what we know. For instance, Mandarin Chinese is a great language to learn if you are hoping to do international business, but be prepared to memorize hundreds of characters. This is why the “easiest” languages to learn after English are usually Latin based.
