Paper Planners?

Friday, March 27th, 2009

Whatever happened to the trusty paper planner? Most people in business now use an I-phone or Blackberry to schedule meetings or put things into a to do list, but I still use a paper planner for a few reasons. First, I think it is much easier and quicker to write things down then to enter them into a planner. Next, sometimes the I-phone or Blackberry tries to do too much. For instance, if I simply want to record “Call Linda Back” somewhere, I want do not need an alarm, I do not want to pick which tone rings when it comes about, and I don’t even want to put it in a certain time. I only wanted to create a to-do list, but now I have a list with alarms and ringtones and specific times.

Diet Soda Isn’t The Answer

Thursday, March 26th, 2009

When you are trying to lose weight, Diet Coke or other diet sodas are not the answers. Many people think that by switching to a diet soda they are going to go through some sort of transformation. This is not true, and in fact, many studies suggest that diet drinks may actually be worse for you since they contain so many chemicals to give the soda its sweet flavor. Our bodies are meant to have natural food and drinks in them, and no soda is natural, diet or regular. If you are trying to lose weight by switching some sort of beverage, switch to water or dark coffee if you need caffeine. Those drinks give you the best chance to lose weight.

Committing to Self-Help

Wednesday, March 25th, 2009

When I am looking for self help, my favorite place to look is the library. Some self-improvement books do not really relate with me, and I do not want to commit $20 to a book that may or may not help me. In the library, there is a massive assortment of excellent books for all types of people, and the best part is they are all free to borrow! Now, once you have found a self-improvement book you enjoy, it is important you read it more than once, so at that point it may not be a bad idea to go purchase the book. With the library, you can search for the best self-help strategies without any commitment.
