A great game is Gears of War 2. It has unbelievable multiplayer, and it can be played for hours. It may seem violent to a lot of people, and it is, but at the same time you are killing aliens not humans right? That has to be worth something. The best part about the game is its multiplayer capabilities, though, because you can play with all of your friends as a team or against one another. Each game is different since there are so many levels and fun environments. It is a lot more fun than other shooters like Halo or Call of Duty. You should be warned though, if you are into games at all, once you sit donw to play, you may not get back up for quite a few hours.

Thursday, January 29th, 2009One question that I have always had is whether or not whoever designs your logo gets a royalty every time it is used. I think most people just get an upfront fee, but why is that? Musicians get royalties for their music, and so why don’t artists or logo designers? Or how come they don’t at least get their name or initials next to the logo. For instance, I would like to know who designed the Nike Swoosh. It is a great logo, and whoever designed it should be rich, but I doubt they are. I guess logos are simply assets not artworks to most companies, and so they want to pay once for the whole thing, instead of worrying how many times they are or aren’t using it.

How Much Is Too Much?
Thursday, January 29th, 2009Interior design is tricky. How much is too much when it comes to pictures? I recently moved and I have found that hanging pictures is harder than it looks. The actual physical part of hanging it is not hard, but finding the right place and the right picture is. Some pictures just don’t go with your furniture or overall architecture. I always want to hang up tons of pictures as well, but everyone tells me it is overkill and I shouldn’t put as many up. I just think walls are boring, so why not hang up a picture? Professional interior designers really are worth the money if you can afford it. They just see things differently than us normal people can.
Fila’s Folly
Thursday, January 29th, 2009There comes a point when you see a graphic and it just screams, “I was made in the 80’s!” They are just awful, and it blows your mind that they still use it. Sure there is some value in consistency, but overall you need to stay up with the times and the new graphic designs. The company I have in mind is Fila. They have had the same logo for years, and it is looking worse everyday. It really is straight out of the 80’s, and it could be a main reason why Fila is falling behind other sports companies like Nike and Under Armor. Fila could definitely use a new “F,” since seeing it on a new piece of clothing just makes that piece of clothing look old.
Web Hosting Lessons
Thursday, January 29th, 2009Online web hosting is a little difficult. Once you have found a person to host your website, you have only started the process. Now you need to learn how to upload files to their server and how to make everything work together. This isn’t something someone can learn in ten minutes. You may have to search around for a bit for a good online resource. Wikipedia can be helpful, but it mostly defines things and doesn’t really give you any action steps. That is a good place to start, but there are plenty of other places that are much better. One great place is Youtube. Usually it is spent killing time at work, but it can be a helpful resource for web hosting and even web design.
